Presbyterian congregations are governed by a representative form of church government. Leaders are elected by the congregation through a nominating committee. That nominating committee is also responsible for hiring the pastor.
Together, the pastor and lay leaders guide the worship and ministries of the church. One can learn more about the Presbyterian Church (USA), of which First Presbyterian Church of Chicago is a member congregation, by going to either the regional denominational website, The Presbytery of Chicago www.chicagopresbytery.org or to the national denominational website of the Presbyterian Church (USA) www.pcusa.org
